    Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP)

    About the Programme

    CMEGP is a credit-linked subsidy scheme of the Government of Maharashtra that supports the establishment of new, viable micro and small enterprises in rural and urban areas to generate employment. It is implemented by the Directorate of Industries through DICs, KVIB offices and participating banks.

    Benefits

    • Eligible project-cost limit of Rs. 50 lakh for manufacturing and Rs. 20 lakh for service enterprises for loan and subsidy benefits.
    • Urban area subsidy: 15% for General Category and 25% for Special Category.
    • Rural area subsidy: 25% for General Category and 35% for Special Category.
    • Special Category includes SC, ST, women, differently abled persons, ex-servicemen, OBC, VJNT and minorities.
    • Project cost may include eligible capital expenditure, working capital, machinery, equipment, tools and other business-establishment expenses.
    • Financing may be provided by public sector banks, regional rural banks, co-operative banks and approved private scheduled commercial banks.
    • EDP training and implementation support are available through the scheme framework.

    Eligibility

    • The project must be a new manufacturing or service unit located in Maharashtra.
    • The project must be economically viable and technically feasible.
    • Existing units are not eligible for assistance under CMEGP.
    • Only one person from a family is eligible; family means the applicant and spouse.
    • The applicant must not have availed assistance under another subsidy-linked self-employment promotion scheme.
    • Aadhaar is mandatory for online application.
    • Maharashtra domicile conditions apply; a domicile certificate is required when the applicant was born outside Maharashtra.
    • Women and other notified Special Category applicants are eligible for enhanced category benefits.
    • Entrepreneurship Development Programme training is compulsory before release of the loan amount.

    How to Apply

    1. Open the official CMEGP portal and select the online application for an Individual or Non-Individual applicant, as applicable.
    2. Enter Aadhaar, applicant profile, sponsoring agency, district, category, date of birth, education and contact details.
    3. Enter the proposed unit location, type of activity, industry or activity name, product description, project cost and expected employment.
    4. Select the preferred financing bank and branch and provide IFSC and branch details.
    5. Upload all prescribed documents in PDF format and submit the applicant declaration.
    6. Submit the application online to the appropriate DIC or KVIB office according to the area allocation.
    7. The application is scrutinised and, if eligible, considered by the District Level Task Force Committee for recommendation to the bank.
    8. The bank independently appraises financial viability and decides loan sanction.
    9. Complete the mandatory EDP or REDP training before release of the loan amount and complete own-contribution, documentation and disbursement requirements.
