The scheme supports artisans and craftspeople engaged in specified traditional trades in the unorganized sector on a self-employment basis. It seeks to improve their productivity, product quality, access to modern tools, skills, institutional credit, digital payments and domestic or international markets. Registration leads to formal recognition through a PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID Card, after which the beneficiary can proceed through skill assessment, training, toolkit, credit and market-support components.
Key documents:
Mandatory registration information includes Aadhaar, Aadhaar-linked mobile number, bank-account details and ration card. If the applicant does not have a ration card, Aadhaar details of all family members are required. PM Vishwakarma FAQ
Applicable Fee
No Government application or scheme-registration fee is prescribed for beneficiaries. Registration is facilitated through CSCs under the scheme mechanism. Applicants should not pay any person who promises guaranteed registration, training selection, toolkit release or loan sanction. Any separate banking charge connected with a sanctioned credit facility must be disclosed by the participating lender and governed by applicable banking rules.
PM Vishwakarma FAQ
Mode of Fee Payment
Since no beneficiary application fee is prescribed, no payment should be made for obtaining scheme registration. If a lending institution levies a legitimate statutory or banking charge for the credit facility, it should be paid only through the bank’s authorised channel and against an official receipt or account debit. Beneficiaries should not make cash payments to unauthorised intermediaries.
Decision-Making Authority
Office of the Development Commissioner, MSME, Ministry of MSME Conjoint; Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India
Time Required for Decision
The scheme does not prescribe one universal number of days for completion of all stages. Registration passes through a multi-stage verification process involving the Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body, the District Implementation Committee and final screening or approval under the scheme mechanism. Training, toolkit release and loan processing follow separately. The credit decision is made by the participating lending institution after appraisal, so processing time depends on verification, training completion, documentation, bank assessment and scheme-stage readiness.
